About the Team
The Manteo Hunter Safety Education Team is a community of middle and high school students, families, coaches and volunteers brought together by a shared belief that some of life's most important lessons are learned through responsibility, discipline and mentorship.
Students are welcome to participate whether they attend public school, private school or are homeschooled.
While shooting sports and hunter safety are at the heart of what we do, they are only part of our purpose.
Students learn safe firearm handling, marksmanship, hunting and outdoor safety, along with the responsibility that comes with firearm ownership and use. We provide instruction and ammunition, and firearms are available for students to try under the direct supervision of our coaches. Along the way, they also develop patience, accountability, confidence, teamwork and respect.
Our coaches are volunteers—parents, community members and former students who choose to invest in the next generation. Their role extends beyond instruction. They serve as mentors and examples, encouraging students to work hard, remain humble, keep their word, strengthen their faith and make good decisions even when no one is watching.
We want every student who comes through this program to leave with more than the ability to hit a target. We want them to understand what it means to be trustworthy, prepared and dependable—to stand up for what is right, care for others and become the kind of person their family and community can count on.
We aren't simply teaching hunter safety. We're helping build good people.
About the Mission
The mission of the Manteo Hunter Safety Education Team is to develop responsible, capable and principled young men and women through mentorship, faith, firearm safety, and shooting sports.
We believe our responsibility reaches far beyond teaching students how to handle a firearm safely.
Through the example of dedicated coaches, parents, former team members and community volunteers, we strive to build a foundation of strong character, sound judgment, discipline and respect—values our students will carry with them long after they leave the range.
Grounded in faith and guided by a commitment to doing what is right, we prepare young people not only to become safe and responsible sportsmen and women, but to become dependable members of their families and communities: people who are prepared to lead, serve and protect when called upon.

Meet Alex — Where Outreach Cultivates Hope
Empowering individuals is more than providing services — it shows how they’re valued, how they’re supported, and how they can thrive. My path has always been grounded in empathy, respect, and a deep passion for helping communities discover strength, dignity, and opportunity together.

Meet the Mentors
Our mentors are parents, former students and community members who do far more than teach safe shooting habits. They are trusted adults who listen, encourage and show up for our students through both the good moments and the hard ones. They are part of the safety net that makes this team so much more than a shooting program.

Powered by Community.
The Manteo Hunter Safety Education Team is made possible entirely through the generosity of our community. Donations and local support help provide the equipment, training, and opportunities our students need to learn, grow, and participate.
Every contribution, large or small, helps us continue investing in the next generation.
